Doing the garden, digging the weeds - who could ask for more?
July 20, 2021
Venus leaves Leo for Virgo on July 21st, swapping out her party dress for some sensible work clothes. The goddess of love isn’t too happy in reserved Virgo (although the situation isn’t as grim as some folks would have it), but this year she’ll be making the most of her time in the sign.
Things start off with an opposition to her BFF, Jupiter, who’s in their mutually-adored sign of Pisces. Connecting with Venus just twelve hours after she enters the sign, Jupiter seems to be reminding Venus that there are good times to be had - even if they are a drop less indulgent. A shared work or leisure project, or perhaps even a shared diet and exercise plan might be on the agenda for some of us, although the Sun and Mercury (and for a while, Mars) will be keeping the Leonine party going in the goddess’ absence, so there’s still plenty of fiery energy around if a giant kale salad after puttering around in the garage doesn’t appeal to you.
On July 28th, Venus squares Juno, the partnership asteroid and Jupiter’s wife. Juno is retrograde in Jupiter’s sign of Sagittarius, and about to station direct on August 2nd. With Jupiter about to oppose Mars (on the 29th)and the Sun and Mercury opposite Saturn (August 1st), this could be a time of decisions or conflicts in relationships. There could be tensions between what you want and what you have in your partnerships, or you may get hung up on a single facet of your relationship and miss the big picture.
Resolution isn’t likely to be far off, with Venus trine to (and Mercury square to) revolutionary Uranus on August 3rd. Folks that have been feeling constrained or who have generally been struggling with relationships are likely to have the courage to break free at this time. With the Moon waning, it may be easier to let go that start something new in the short term.
Single people may view the time at the end of July and beginning of August as a challenge - but one that might conceal opportunity.
Just after the new moon on the 8th, Venus makes an opposition to Neptune on the 9th. This aspect is a little tricky. We could read too much or too little into a romantic or social situation, and might spin either positive or negative fantasies about someone. While extremes are unlikely unless this aspect is triggering something personal, it’s a good idea to be a little circumspect at this time.
As Venus trines Pluto on the 11th of August, there’s an opportunity to build - or release - in relationships. This is a subtle but powerful aspect that can help us to make the most of a situation, so use it wisely.
